Liam May

Specialist areas

Liam advises clients on a broad range of employment matters, including unfair dismissal, redundancy, wages claims, discrimination and victimisation claims and contract law. Liam has experience in representing clients at Case Management Conferences, County Court hearings and Employment Tribunals.

Career History:

Liam achieved a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) Law Degree at the University of Northumbria in 2009. During his final year at University Liam worked on various pro bono employment law and civil litigation cases, which involved representing clients at Employment Tribunal hearings and negotiating out of court settlements.

Liam began his Training Contract at Bridge McFarland Solicitors in September 2009. Liam’s seats during his Training Contract included working in the Dispute Resolution Department, the Employment Department and the Private Client Department.

Liam qualified as a Solicitor in September 2011 and now works in the firm’s Employment Department.

Cases

X v GCRI Ltd t/a Scratch Match, Liam successfully represented the Claimant in an unfair dismissal claim brought against his former employer, who had failed to follow procedures in a redundancy situation.


Personal:

During his spare time Liam enjoys playing and watching football, attending the gym and running. Liam regularly runs 10k races in the Lincolnshire area, and has entered the Great North Run for September 2012.
