Whatever the amount, whether large or small, Bridge McFarland has experienced litigation lawyers who can assist with the recovery of debts. Not only do they undertake this work on behalf of business clients but for individuals as well. In either case a key consideration will always be the commercial viability of any proposed course of action. In other words we always try to avoid throwing ‘good money after bad’. If we think that a case is not worth pursuing or that there is a better way of proceeding than using the services of a solicitor then we will tell you.

In some cases debts can be recovered simply by corresponding with the debtor. If this is not successful then we will advise you about the range of options which are open to you. Very often the way forward will be to commence recovery proceedings in either the County Court of the High Court. In other cases we may recommend the service of a ‘Statutory Demand’. The nature of the advice that we give will depend both upon the amount due and the nature of the debtor.

If a case is likely to become contested then our commercial litigation lawyers who have experience in a wide range of cases will be available to give advice. On the other hand if a case is not contested and a court order or judgement is obtained then we will advise how that judgement may be enforced. Again, the amount due, the nature of the debtor and the likely ability to pay will all be considered. There are numerous options which go far beyond ‘sending in the Bailiff’ and they all need to be looked at carefully. If all else fails then we are able to pursue insolvency proceedings as a means of recovery.
