Stephen is one of the founding partners of Stephen Ede, Cooke and Ashton which merged with Bridge McFarland on 1st January 2009. He specialises in company and commercial law, insolvency and employment law.
Career History:
After being articled in Louth, Stephen moved to Lincoln to join Langleys in 1975. In 1976 he moved to Grimsby to manage the Grimsby office of Langleys. Stephen became a partner in that firm in 1978 and set up Stephen Ede Cooke & Ashton with Philip Ashton in 1984.
As the commercial side of the firm's business grew Stephen concentrated on Company and Commercial work and in order to increase his expertise in this area obtained a Diploma in Advanced Company Law from the City of London Law School in 1997.
Stephen also began to specialise in Insolvency. His work also extends to providing ancillary advice to small and medium sized businesses ranging from company formation, employment contracts, commercial disputes, debt collection, property and intellectual property.
In 2008 Stephen became a member of the Insolvency Lawyers Association and The Association of Business Recovery Professionals

In his spare time Stephen enjoys participating in a number of countryside pursuits.
