Cruise Ship Accidents

       

The troubles suffered off the coast of Italy by the cruise ship Costa Concordia highlight some of the dangers posed by navigation at sea.

The Italian owners of the vessel, Costa Crociere, highlighted human error as the likely cause of the incident and are reported as being unhappy with the actions of the Master, Captain Francesco Schettino. There are ongoing investigations.

Six people have been confirmed dead by Italian rescue officials and a further sixteen remain unaccounted for.
